Make your fonts professional and readable. The font is one of the first items people notice when coming to a site. Avoid fancy fonts that are hard to read or unprofessional fonts such as Comic Sans. If one of your visitors does not have your chosen font on their own computer, another font is substituted. Sometimes this looks worse, but often times it helps the reader who otherwise may not have been able to read your website clearly.

In order to evaluate your web design skills accurately, it’s a good idea to start off with small, simple websites where your successes and shortcomings will be easy to spot. If you begin by creating only a few pages, it will be easier to gradually build your confidence.
